What is this about?
MathsWithDan provides online maths tuition, courses and recordings. Daniel Akinleye runs MathsWithDan and is responsible for looking after the personal information used by the service.
“Personal information” means information that is about you or could identify you.
What information might we have?
- your name, username and email address;
- your school year, course, attendance and lesson activity;
- things you or your parent/guardian tell us in messages or Microsoft Forms;
- your display name, voice, video or chat if you use those features in a recorded live lesson;
- information about the device or browser used to access the website;
- information needed to keep you safe if someone raises a concern.
Why do we use it?
We use it to give you access to your course, teach you, provide recordings, communicate with you and your parent or guardian, keep the service secure, improve lessons and respond if there is a safety concern. We only use information when the law gives us a valid reason.
Who might see it?
Daniel and people who genuinely need it to run MathsWithDan may see it. Trusted services such as the course website, Zoom, Vimeo, Microsoft Forms and email providers process information to help deliver tuition. Other students may see or hear your display name, messages, voice or video in a live class or recording if you choose to use those features.
How can you protect your privacy?
- Use a sensible display name and never share your password.
- Do not post your address, telephone number, school details or other private information in class chat.
- Use camera and microphone features carefully and follow the teacher’s instructions.
- Tell Daniel or a trusted adult if anything online makes you worried or uncomfortable.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. In some situations, you can ask us to delete it, stop using it in a particular way or give you a copy. A parent or guardian can help, but these rights belong to you. Email info@mathswithdan.com. You can also speak to a parent, guardian or another trusted adult.
How long do we keep it?
We keep information only while it is needed for your tuition, our legal records, security or safeguarding.
We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.
