1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files saved on your computer, phone or tablet when you use a website. Similar technologies can also store or read information on your device. They make websites work, keep them secure, remember your settings, and help site owners understand how their site is being used.
2. How MathsWithDan uses them
- Strictly necessary — these make the site work. They cover security, registering and logging in, keeping you signed in, getting into your courses, and taking payments. They also remember your cookie choices. You can’t switch these off, because the site can’t do what you’ve asked it to do without them.
- Preferences — these remember optional settings and support extra features. We only use them if you agree.
- Analytics — these help us see how the site and the courses are used overall: which pages are popular, where people get stuck, and what’s broken. They stay off unless you turn them on.
- Targeting — these can measure how our adverts perform and support advertising that’s more relevant to you. They stay off unless you turn them on.
3. Third parties and other companies
Some cookies are set by companies we use to run the site. Depending on which parts of the site you use, these may include our web host, our security provider, Stripe for payments, Google for reCAPTCHA and analytics, and the other services listed in the cookie preference tool. These companies handle your information under their own privacy notices as well as their agreements with us.
4. Your choices
Before we set anything optional, we’ll ask. Saying no is exactly as easy as saying yes, and you won’t be nagged or nudged into agreeing.
